They tried to increase my premium by over $100 because I made an error in my 41 year old daughter’s year of birth. Tried to correct this 3 days later when the full policy was emailed and checked for correctness by myself. To no avail. Explanation was nonsensical in the circumstances and they were adamant I had to pay the higher premium. This all happened prior to the commencement date of the policy, so naturally I cancelled the policy and took my business elsewhere.

Happy enough with this insurer and value is competitive but the process, for an existing customer, was a nightmare.

All I tried todo was update an existing policy to cover a new car purchase. Staff were nice enough but the process ended up taking almost two hours. It didn’t help that I hung up in utter frustration once and left our new car, unknowingly, uncovered for a couple of days.

Service was good although I had a few phone calls to clarify points and had to go through the same questions every time. Also neither your quotes, website or contact person told us that your monthly payment included a charge for having monthly debits until I actually queried it - this should be clearly advised up front so customers are aware exactly what they are paying for especially as you are in most cases dealing with aged pensioners and other insurance companies do give the option free of charge. I would have preferred the monthly option but with an additional charge of approx $6 per month ended up choosing the annual option.

Probally unintentional, The online applications dont allow enough flexibility for cases that dont fit the template. In trying to massage box entries to relate to the questions, inevitably they may fail. For example. Insurance is for a full year.(house fire and theft) A noncompliance that may only exist for two weeks in that period can result in failure to gain the policy. Or create enough uncertainty to cancel it. Such a example is university courses where the semester time may create a house unoccupancy period just outside the fine print limits.( even though the house remains fullystocked ,connected to services, receives lawn cutting, visited weekly to collect mails and checked and has operating night security lights). Policy fine print doesnt distinguish ! Add to this Insurance may be sought in June 2022 and university entrance in first semester 2023, may not even occur. Its all very competitive. Its hard to gaze into the future The thought that a highly unlikely claim that the policy makes so crystal clear (on the surface interpretation) will fail, is a problem for new applications It would be welcomed if more refinement of the house vacancy clauses could offer more then "one size fits all". For instance the policy if revised may define the difference between an operating house and one that is sitting empty without furniture or services.
