1. Are there any conditions or waiting period before I can claim?
Yes, you should read the policy thoroughly to ensure you are familiar with all conditions. There is a 48-hour confinement to bed condition for the Home Assistance Benefit.Return to Top
2. Can I add this policy to my existing insurance?
Yes. In fact it may be used for 'topping up' your insurance cover because we will pay out on other insurances such as superannuation and even your health fund.Return to Top
3. Who can be covered under the plan?
Anyone aged 18 up to and including 96 years of age.Return to Top
4. Does this cover me if I have an accident overseas?
Yes the Policy offers worldwide cover, which is valid 24hours a day 7 days a week.Return to Top
5. Is a hairline fracture covered under the Broken Bones Benefit?
ACE Insurance will assess the claim based on what the doctor certifies at the time of the accidental injury. However for the purpose of this policy ACE Insurance defines a fracture as a broken bone (eg. simple fracture, compound fracture, hairline fracture).Return to Top
6. Does the broken bones benefit plan also cover a broken nose, toes or fingers or ribs?
Yes. This benefit covers specified broken bones and includes fractures which are listed in your policy schedule.
The specified bones are Neck, Hip, Pelvis, Thigh, Heel, Upper Arm, Skull, Ankle, Lower Leg, Elbow, Shoulder Blade, Lower Jaw, Collarbone, Finger, Toe, Hand, Foot, Cheekbone, Coccyx, Vertebrae, Ribs, Nose, Thumb, Lower Arm, Wrist, Sternum, Kneecap.Return to Top
7. Will I receive the Home Assistance benefit in advance?
No. ACE Insurance will reimburse You for expenses based on invoices or receipts you provide when you make a claim.Return to Top
8. Rather than hiring someone to cook my meals, can I just claim for takeaway?
No. The Home Assistance benefit covers a service to fulfil domestic duties that a doctor has certified as necessary. Such duties may include mowing the lawn, cooking, cleaning or child minding services.Return to Top
9. Are there any exclusions?
There will be information regarding standard exclusions in the policy documentation.
Additional exclusions include: pre-existing medical conditions, engaging in professional sports, motor sports (as a rider, driver and/or a passenger), being a pilot or crew member of any aircraft, engaging in aerial activities, suicide, and criminal and illegal acts. This policy does not cover illnesses. There is a requirement that you be confined to bed for more than 48-hour for the Home Assistance Benefit. 10. When will I first be billed?
You will be billed during the interim cover period because ACE always bill in advance and from there you will be billed around the 28th of every month. (if annual - you will be billed around the 28th of the month this time next year).Return to Top
11. Can I still apply if I have a pre-existing medical condition?
Yes. The plan does not cover you for any pre-existing medical conditions. However, this does not exclude you from cover for the accident-based components.Return to Top
